Description of Safety Blood Lancet

These single-use lancets are pre-armed for convenience and safety. The tip is concealed before use and retracts completely after a single release to prevent reuse or accidental contamination. Gentle pressure at the test site activates the lancet mechanism. These lancets are available in 2 flow options. The low-flow lancet contains a 28-gauge needle that penetrates the skin 1.5 mm, collecting 5 to 10 µL of blood; this is ideal for glucose testing. The high-flow lancet collects 75 to 100 µL of blood using a 21-gauge needle that penetrates the skin 1.8 mm. This lancet can be used when filling microcollection and capillary tubes or during blood-typing exercises. Each box contains 100 lancets.

Safety lancets are sterile, single-use devices intended for the capillary blood sampling.

They are an integral component to the sharps-injury prevention programs in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, doctor’s offices and wherever both patients and professionals need to feel safe. By using safety lancets needle-stick injuries and infections can be minimized.
